Rachel here. It is 10am. I just switched my phone Rachel here.

It is 10am. I just switched my phone to "do not disturb" mode after the 13th bzzz in a row.

I've been trying to write this for 2 hours, but everyone and their grandmothers are clamoring for my attention, and hell-bent on keeping me from 20 minutes of uninterrupted writing time.

Boyfriend's getting a computer delivered that needs a signature...

The gardeners "aren't sure what happened" as they hover over my internet cable they sliced through...

And our realtor texts me 3 times with "Urgent! Emergency!" to tell me she floated me $325 for a plumbing inspection, because the guy was standing there and needed an answer RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW.

(Yo, Is it really "urgent" if you've already agreed and paid the guy? And if it's an "emergency," why not just tell me in the texts you keep sending? But I digress...)

Now, I'm sure I had something to write about today that "Past Rachel" thought was profoundly insightful.

Whatever it was, it's hitchin' a ride in the back of the 2nd UPS truck that rang my bell this morning.

But when it comes to chatting with your list, or opening a dialog with your readers, we use what we have!

That's why, when I hear writers say, "I don't know what to write about" – I ask them to tell me about their day so far.

Because the world we live in is amazing, and there's a lesson worth sharing in everything we experience.

Maybe it's the lady chasing her run-away Yorkie down the street in Jimmy Choos...

Or the homeless guy you see every day who's always reading a new book...

Or even the broken egg we dropped on the floor while cooking breakfast...

Anything that makes us stop and take notice is worth a note in our mental story folder, so we can use it later when we finally DO get time to sit down and write.

Because the stories and lessons worth sharing, are the ones that we're living every day.

So let's hear it – what's something that happened in the last 24 hours, that you could turn into a story for an email or content piece?

I'd love to know what you come up with, and how you tie it back to you're business.

By now we’ve all discovered that things did not By now we’ve all discovered that things did not magically go back to normal after the year ticked over into 2021. Surprise! (not). For many writers, working from home, where family and domestic distractions run wild takes a serious toll on our creative work.
Today Laura and Rachel dive into the headspace (or lack there of) involved with protecting and fueling your creativity while everything feels like it’s in flux.
Because when everything feels crooked, sometimes you need a little help getting your head straight.
Listen to how they’re both trying to do that on today's episode. Link in bio!
